It is just the right amount of cushy with a luxurious cover that can be removed for washing. It has a flat back so my head wasn't pushed forward.

They do mention to let it air out for a few days once you receive it as there is a smell but I didn't notice any smell at all and used it the first day I took it out of the packaging. !
