Miranda

(I’d say 4. Wow is all I can say about this book! * Takes place in an abandoned theme park in the middle of nowhere (closest thing for miles is a VERY small town)* Everyone has a story. First off, can we talk about this cover?

YorkshireCarly

All in all the story is very chilling and you can actually feel yourself in the abandoned park as you wait with the others all day in your hiding spot and hope your don’t get found! Sign me up!

Hunger Games has absolutely nothing on this but saying that if you love the Hunger Games you’ll adore this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3. 5-4)* Hide-and-Seek Competition* FMC is famously know for a dark past.

I was over the moon to be accepted to read this ARC as it sounded incredible, so thanks to the publisher & author. 😍I was so excited to read this one. There’s all this mystery (everyone is acting suspicious) and it’s just creepy enough to have you in suspense/on the edge of your seat. 5-5 ⭐️s good!

When you finally realize what’s going on it felt a little out of left field. That’s not to say it’s ‘bad’- the writing is done well and the storyline is unique. IMO: The first 1/2 - 2/3 was amazing! Disclaimer Note: I finished this book towards the end of 2022 and wrote a short review, but I felt this one deserved a full review so here we are.

But - and it pains me to write this - the last third just became so chaotic (like those memes where everyone is running around screaming, somethings on fire, and someone’s crying in the corner…it’s just a lot to absorb). I enjoyed each characters back story and loved how you learned more about them every few pages , it kept you on your toes and engaged in the book wanting to to find out more. ! It may be more a ‘me’ issue in the last part than the book itself.

I emphasised with Mack right from the beginning as she’s suffered terrific loss and terror (I’m glad Mack became friends with Ava ( reluctantly ) so she wasn’t alone like she’s always been) and she took the opportunity to be in the competition to win the £50k so she could leave the shelter and maybe start a new life somewhere else but it didn’t sound good to begin with, a game of hide and seek in a huge abandoned theme park in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal. I may pick this one back up later for a reread and see if it sits differently in my 🧠. ) I was truly enjoying it and had no idea where the storyline was going. I mean - a thriller that takes place in an abandoned theme park?
