Seems every time I find myself needing a drain tool I just never took the time to purchase one. Also, given that the tool is constructed of die-cast aluminum, even though the product page says "You can use it like a hammer for simple fixed percussion," I don't think that is advisable. 9 ounces. Very handy tool to keep in your plumbing tool box.

One tip - before trying to remove a drain that has been installed for a long time and/or is corroded, spray some penetrating oil on the drain and let it sit for a while before trying to loosen it. This tool as seen in the photos is very well made, even looks really cool. Die-cast aluminum construction means no worry about the tool rusting. At one point I was even contemplating just cutting it.

Very handy tool for removing and replacing a bathtub drain. The other end fits the same drain cover except for sinks. On one end it will fit that pesky drain cover that can always get caught up with hair and begin to deteriorate.

I applied force slow but hard while keeping an eye on any tool deformation. The tool also survived showing little sign of deformation. Without a Drain Tool they can be a real pain to get out to replace.

After seeing this Drain Tool on Amazon I decided to order it while thinking about it. It was getting scary as the drain cross member was deforming but luckily it didn't break off. then corroded drain loose. This tool makes removing that drain cover very easy.

I used in combination an adjustable wrench and a screwdriver inserted in the hole of the tool to even the force applied. The product page says "Dual Ended Drain Wrench that fits 3/8 or 1/2 Inch Ratchet Wrench" but I couldn't figure out what that means as neither my 3/8 nor 1/2 inch ratchet drives fit - the square drives are smaller than the square openings at the ends of the tool. The media could not be loaded.

push down and turn. The tool is 6 inches long which provides enough room to use either a screwdriver inserted through the hole in the body or a wrench on the hex portion. My tub drain was really stuck on since the plumber let the plumbing putty get on the threads. The tool weighs less than you might think - only 8.
