If you try to do too much, your results might well be patchy. The only thing I don't like about the process are that the recommended cycle - a 40 degree cotton wash - takes three hours on my machine and you need to run it twice. 2. 5.

Once dye wash is done - another wash is required with a detergent capsule. I dyed my denim faded jacket and the top photo is the before, and the after photo shows it has turned out a lovely blue.

Son's white school shirt now looks denim; cotton pillow cases look grey: and a dull, tatty looking cream-on-cream damask duvet cover has come out as a delightful silver with navy pattern. If you're only dyeing one thing, the colour result is probably going to be a good bit darker and you might want to think about hand dyeing instead.

I'm really pleased with the results I got. So have no need for stonewashed jeans. That said they were dirt cheap, barely worn if at all and fitted really well.
