I installed these above our projector screen on the patio. There is maybe a foot of space above and only a few inches behind.

! This is the second purchase of these speakers, I have them in my lounge and bedroom they have a lovely sound, the ones in the lounge are used with a marantz amplifier and the bedroom with a Sony amplifier the sound is great though both ES10, but aesthetically not pleasing for a rear surround.
