Whilst the main focus of the story is to figure out the connection between the two timelines, each era presents us with other predicaments to figure out, such as should Rita go on a date with Robbie, should she tell Mr Harrington about his wife's going ons and what will Annie (Sylvie's daughter) end up doing? It's so lyrical, so poetic and elegant, pared back so there's never a stray word that doesn't belong, yet so descriptive and all-encompassing.

I love stories of family dynamics, secrets and lies, surprising links between characters, all of whom are cast perfectly in their roles. And I swear every chapter ended on a cliffhanger so I literally could not wait to see what happened next - very engaging writing tactic there! None of their lives will be the same again.

* I loved the intricately weaved family connections (I genuinely didn’t see half of what happens coming? The characters are so wonderfully depicted creating such a strong connection between the reader and them all, making the tale feel even more engrossing. The dual narrative was set in the seventies and the present and was so perfectly done. The author has created a memorable cast of characters and a richly drawn sense of place that gave the novel a mysterious, eerie and haunting ambience.

Eve Chase's writing is beautiful. I’ve summed up my thoughts on this one:* I’m a big fan of a dual timeline and Eve Chase creates this perfectly jumping between characters in the 1970s and the present day.

I was utterly immersed in its pages and inhabited the world inside this book along with the characters. I highly recommend this exquisitely written book. Where Sylvie fits in would give too much away too soon but I was in awe of how the author pushed me down certain paths in the story with such subtlety.

This book is going to stay with me for a long time. The Glass House is a gloriously circular novel, even though it doesn't feel like it for much of the story.
