When you first start you have to buy quite a lot of spices. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to make the base gravy, so you need to factor that in to your advance prep.

when making it. Once you’ve prepared and frozen a batch of base sauce and made the mixed spice powder you are good to go. There are quite a few useful hints and tips, and most recipes have a QR code to watch a youtube video on how to make that recipe - interesting, but not sure I'd do that myself. A very fine cookbook for curries, with explantions, history and a detailed equipment section.

even for the same dish, such as a balti. Fab book the best in my opinion we love it The recipes are excellent and easy to follow particularly if you are used to cooking curries. Given all this plus the fact that you can watch all the Richards curries on Youtube makes this book an invaluable aid to making your own exceptional curry.

It's handy you can bulk make it and freeze it, but they you have to remember to take it out of the freezer in time. Great book, had lots and they taste better than an Indian. An excellent book.

You need to read the recipe carefully in advance until you get used to them e. Great book, very detailed and so far results have been delicious. The process is surprisingly quick and so far I am not disappointed with the end result.

Like the results of the recipes but it's a pity so many are based on the bulk load of 'gravy' you make in advance (2. Interesting most recipes use pre-cooked meat, to prevent the raw meet from diluting the sauce, but handy in some instances.

It also takes a little getting used to the quantities of ingredients being based on a takeaway portion. This may be the case if the base is not watered down or too much base is used. .
