He is 3 and the small tool it comes with is very difficult to use at first for his age so we used a spoon. Ours were buried in the sand and the product was new, no issues. The kit came with three separate dinosaurs and a little plastic tool to excavate (pickaxe/shovel).

My daughter loves dinosaurs, so this playset was an easy choice. Her pediatrician says kinetic sand is an excellent choice for toddlers to play with. We’ve already hurried them again and continued our dig a few times over.
