I bought this many weeks ago having done some research. Cleaning the thing is fiddly but probably expected. I was worried this 1056 model was going to be too big for my bedroom, but the footprint is actually smaller than you would think.

- There's a beep whenever you press a setting on the fan. Slight gripe - I thought it was made in England as a Union flag on box, only to discover surprise, surprise it’s made in China. After that it was extremely easy.

When turned on, the fan automatically changes the fan speed depending on the current temperature of the room so the hotter it is, the faster the fan speed. I agree with a lot of the reviews that say it's good, but believe some of them are a bit too praising. Plugged it in, pressed the on switch and a gentle cooling breeze began.

Love it! But I can strongly recommend this to others. - The remote is circular, meaning its very difficult to control in the dark as you can't tell which side is up. It can oscillate in two directions (horizontally and vertically) and you can set it to do either one or the other or both.

- The IR sender/receiver is weak. - The fan IS powerful, but I've definitely wanted it more powerful to fill a room as it can still struggle to reach sometimes. Great British manufacturing. Without it aiming down, you have to get a perfectly-heighted platform for it if you want to use it in bed, which I, understandably, don't have.

when it's hot it's just on. I can see myself using this all year round. It sits on our dining table most of the time, from where it is great on first level when we’re eating, reading papers etc.

I decided on this fan after researching portable air conditioners, evaporators and tower fans because it seemed to fulfil what I needed: efficiency(12settings), portability(means I can take upstairs or out to my art room easily), eco setting adjusts setting to the surrounding temp, an oscillator(horizontal and vertical movement) and remote control. I've had various types of fans in the past in my bedroom from industrial floor flans, tower fans and more recently traditional desk fans but none have come even close to the effectiveness of this MeacoFan (1056). This fan still disturbs my sleep, just perhaps less than other fans might. If so, make more of this in the advertising.
