and nothing else. When this series was rebooted by Chanel Four (UK) recently, it made me long for the original actors in those rolls, Robert Hardy in particular can not be beaten! No special features.

K. S. Roberts

It's on TV sometimes but I reckon on TV they edit out some of the funny bits. Unlike the new actor who is more famous for his roll as Lesley in "The Durrels" and seems to only be able to play Tristan as the irritating sulky brat. ☆The play back is as expected for the time filmed, you won't get H/D high pixel playback, but I was surprised to see it nicely fitted my TV screen and I wasn't left with a square viewing window and masses of black on either side, and it wasn't as grainy as I expected for the shows age.

Then rewatch them in a year os so. But I'm so enjoying my Xmas pressie. I was lucky enough to be brought up in Yorkshire so seeing home turf is fab.

Brings back lovely childhood memories of Sunday evenings watching with my Parents when it was originally aired in the UK. And more funny. I asked for this as an Xmas gift. James Herriot is played by an actor who appears to come from the same Chris Timothy gene pool.

Tristan is not a patch on Peter Davison, who plays Tristan Farnon as favourite Son and is genuinely likable in his characterization, and as a range of facial expressions. I suspect I will watch them. Lead on to amazing scientific advances but then series 3 is so sad when we know they're on the cusp of war. Dvd☆As others have stated I would have loved a booklet listing the episodes by name and a big of a back story, which you'd have thought was standard with DVD box sets these days.

Pre antibiotics and pre war. It's a hard life for both farmers and vets.

But I soon found the episode I'd got up to (the original first series had been part repeated on BBC4 in England recently)☆Each disc does give the episode titles (three per disc) and you can select individual episodes rather than "pay all" with no problem. But hey do have subtitles.
