that still has some of her best songs to date (Pure/Honey, Alien Superstar, Thique, Summer Renaissance, Break My Soul). 6 years after the audiovisual concept "Lemonade" album that set standards in music, this is Act 1 of 3 of Beyoncé's new project, recorded over a 3 year period during the global pandemic.

and that is what this album is. Everything is fine, but it took a while with delivery. Turned out this is such a versatile and interesting set, that I preordered a copy of the very limited deluxe vinyl straight after.

I played it on spotify expecting a continuation of the urban/R'n'B material from her last 2 records (which I've grown to appreciate a lot more since upon first listen). ! The transitions from one song to the next are so seamless, the production is so pristine, this is another Beyoncé piece of work that screams 'epic' (the artwork alone states it boldly). .

The Beyhive is rejoicing today y'all! Love her or hate her, there is no denying that she is the greatest performer of our time (just dropping the Coachella 2018 show as an example), she hardly ever presents something mediocre or bland (that's the Carters disc from that same year 😄), she works harder than any other A-list name (only Taylor Swift comes close), and let's admit it, the word queen fits her perfectly (Madonna IS the first and ultimate 👑 of course). "Alien superstar", "Church girl", "Thique" and "America has a problem" are instant stand outs, where B is expertly bridging the past with the future (her and The Weeknd only can do that so finely). Happy Renaissance!

If you're wanting Sasha Fierce or '4' Beyonce then give this one a miss, however, if you want to ride the holographic horse of progression into a new era of revolution and renaissance then get on board and let's go to Studio 54, 2022! This album is Beyonce's victory lap (on a chromatic horse) in celebration of her ever-growing genius, self-expression, and creative autonomy as (once again) she steps out of comparison and chart-chasing to instead give us a homage to queer and black culture both past and present.

RENAISSANCE act ii

This album is the soundtrack to post-pandemic hedonistic bliss! I fully expect that Beyonce will release a more pop-like album similar to B'Day and Dangerously in Love again at some point in the future, she currently values a body of work with identity, meaning, and message much more. Ame 10/10 🪩✨

The tracks are more techno/house than anything we've heard from Beyonce before and the album is enjoyed so much more through a decent sound system/ headphones to avoid elements getting lost or swallowed. First single "Break my soul" was a great choice to be the lead single, being the most accessible track on here. Always paying attention to the physical formats of her albums, CD comes as a digipack with a 28-page booklet and a 2-sided mini poster, and the vinyl (out in October) is described as a 2LP premium hard slipcase package, with a 36-page photo booklet, and a poster (no doubt it will look and sound flawless).
