'I was saying things in songs that female singers didn't really say back then. books@benedictwilsonbooks. With all the grit, grime, and glory recounted in intimate detail, Face It recreates the downtown scene of 1970s New York City, where Blondie played alongside the Ramones, Television, Talking Heads, Iggy Pop and David Bowie. In Face It, Debbie Harry invites us into the complexity of who she is and how her life and career have played out over the last seven decades. Following her path from glorious commercial success to heroin addiction, the near-death of partner Chris Stein, a heart-wrenching bankruptcy, and Blondie's break-up as a band to her multifaceted acting career in more than thirty films, a stunning solo career and the triumphant return of her band, and her tireless advocacy for the environment and LGBTQ rights, Face It is a cinematic story of a woman who made her own path, and set the standard for a generation of artists who followed in her footsteps - a memoir as dynamic as its subject.

It is a bio not to be missed. What i enjoyed the most was hearing about an artist's reasons WHY they were doing what they do. I bought this memoir for a summer trip and I was so glad i did. How "Blondie" was like a character she created with Chris and the bandmates.

Amazing and of course the CBGB years. I had a band that played there once and it was the finest "dump" in the land. Debbie rocks.

I took the day off work to read this and now I have a major headache. Getting into the life of a punk rocker is a joy with Ms Harry leading the way. And she still has the portrait Andy Warhol gifted to her!

Smith wanted to look like a man and dress like one, YOU become one. .

read it to know the real 'Blondie' face: face. Intricate, boisterous, reflective with some recollections leaving you sad and despondent while others are equally joyful and mesmerizing.

Bought Kindle edition and am frustrated that it shows 2 pages at a time (not 1). Debbie goes everywhere in her story and everything is more than interesting. She always seems like a cheshire cat type not saying much, so to hear her voice after all this time - i loved it!
