It turned out I was pressing button too long, its a sort quick press. The Wiser app loaded easily and has good responsive controls. I can setup each radiator with separate schedules and different room temperature. The radiators were super fast to change and pairing thermostats was super easy.

Added Drayton wireless room stat, 2 Wiser TRVs to two radiators in Living Room also fitted Drayton smartplug/range extender which is not part of kit but purchased separately. My observations are as follows:1) The system's wireless connections are flaky, and subject to interference2) Drayton Controls doesn't want to acknowledge any issues publicly, but they have a list of systems they suspect interfere with Wiser (see photo) which is worryingly long, and included Amazon Echo products, which they specifically say the system works with! We googled a few things and looked at the wiring diagrams and gave it a go. I had great, patient support from the two Drayton customer support people I spoke to.

It didn't have a thermostat so heating is either on or off. Now everything seems to be working perfectly.
