Someone else talked about stickers on the metal - sure there are a couple and it is slightly annoying but a dry cloth and some WD40 soon gets rid of them - there are bigger problems in the world. This is a high quality item and - rarity of rarities - it is made in the USA. Has great form and if you have smaller hands you can double hand chop.

It seems like the entire product was coated with an epoxy. Take it every-time I camp. Purchased specifically for target throwing (axe throwing / hatchet throwing). It's exactly what I was hoping for when I saw the link - definitely not the cheapest but it depends what you're after.

I was drawn to this one primarily because it was made in the USA. Thing is sharp and small. I haven't used it yet but it's got a handle and a sharp blade so I'm figuring that part will go as planned. I used goo gone to get rid of the sticker residue which as mentioned in another review was very sticky.

I recommend wearing gloves to prevent blisters during long chopping periods. Love it! As someone else commented, the handle has been lacquered so it could well be leather under there but I couldn't be sure - presumably it's far more weatherproof this way and it doesn't bother me. If the axe is too dull when you get it, which it normally is, grab a stone or a grinder and sharpen it up.
