Certain pens may handle pigmented inks better than others. While this ink can be used in any fountain pen, we recommend practicing good pen care by giving your pen a thorough flush with either room temperature water or a pen wash between refills. While we recommend regular cleaning with any carbon or pigmented inks, we have found this to be very safe for regular usage. Platinum Carbon ink in Black is a quick-drying ink which provides excellent water resistance. This ink is excellent for artists who desire an ink that can be worked over with watercolors or more inks. Please note: This ink is safe to use in fountain pens, but regular care and cleaning should be done, as pigmented ink can be damaging if allowed to completely dry up inside the pen. This is slightly different than conventional fountain pen ink, because it is pigmented instead of dye-based. Because of this, people say those with larger hands will prefer this one and it is best used for shorter writings or signatures. I got two different types of tips to see the difference. Carbon black ink stays on and it didn’t budge. how wonderful.

I highly recommend both and you too should give different types of more inexpensive kinds a try to see what you prefer. It's important to note that when filling a pen with this, it can mix with other residual ink in the pen and form a sludge/gel that blocks it - I cleaned mine in an ultrasonic cleaner first to ensure it was going into a fully clean pen. I also show this on basic printer paper for those who might not have the proper paper to see how it works on such.

Be sure to get the honey browser add on because at the time of purchasing there was a great discount for a few dollars! (This was the same review i wrote for the pens themselves, but using this ink so i shall include as such)(on a note for the ink i love that it's a quick dry and never get it on my hand while writing! I love it very much. It's a bit expensive but you get what you pay for and having permanent ink that really is permanent for work is invaluable to me so I don't mind the outlay.

I used a syringe to refill the disposable ink tube that came with Pilot Metropolitan after the ink used up. This seems to be everyone’s recommendation so i bought it.
