You don't . It's not trivial, as there are many parts and steps, but the instructions are extremely useful: they are some of the best instructions that I've ever read.

I bought this for 12 year and got stuck on and they took over lol. Amazon's guidance of 18 months to 8 years should be ignored, unless that's how long they think a solo 10 year old will take to make it! None of the pipes have popped off yet, and no water has leaked. it's also sturdy enough to be used by a child, so, it's a great toy to build together.

Once made, which took our team of three (as above) about 5 hours total, well . The pieces are all nicely engineered and go together perfectly, though some of the screws are particularly tight going in and they're just a little too small-headed for a screwdriver with decent torque.
