Yeah it can help you pull carpet up from the tack board, but it's REAL value comes in hauling huge swaths of material to other piles. but after working 5+ hours in 90* temps I finally went for the big kahuna and pulled up 14 x 18 piece and full body dragged it with the clamp out the house, through the garage (lots of 'pivoting and folding and groaning and swearing') and onto the driveway to be taken away. . I used a winch 1ton and make this into a machine, a bar, 2 hose clamps and tacks for the board to rip all 2600sft in 4 hrs with effortless.

I started taking small chunks of carpet out ~8 x 8. If you've got more than 1,000 sq ft of carpet to pull (I had 1,200+) and want to do it yourself you don't NEED this, but you won't regret making the task as easy as possible with the help of it.
