If you liked the raven cycle I think you’ll like this too. I really like the paranormal elements, I didn’t realise there would be so much of it going in but that’s on me not even reading that deep into the summary and just buying the book based on some quotes I had seen.

There is a hint of a slow burn romance which I adored so much, it went perfectly with the feel of the book and didn’t feel forced at all. I personally loved it cause it added more to the tension and made the characters feel more real to me. This is not a fluffy romance, it is a dark and gritty book that mixes paranormal with mystery and adds an undercurrent of tension, while also being a journey of self discovery for the main lead.

It gave me similar vibes but in a much more mature way. I felt like the LGBTQ+ rep was really good and I like how no one ever had to confirm or deny their sexuality (except Andrew but that’s a whole plot line of itself) and everything was just who they were.

I stopped once I got to 85% for a while because I just honestly did not want it to end. There were some homophobic background characters but they got what they deserved. There is drinking, smoking, and recreational drug use, so if you aren’t a fan of that sort of content then this might not be for you. One of the best books I’ve read this year.
