I think they are hand painted, at least the Star Trek ones. They would make a good conversation starter in your home or workplace. Sulu as he is not damaged.

However, the actual box and plastic packaging were severely bent! So, they all will be different, which means some might have a little imperfection. Please view pictures for proof. The shipping box showed NO signs of damage.

While Sulu himself was intact, the packaging was smashed and he was not securely positioned inside the box. Like previously mentioned, these things have a HUGE following.

A fine addition to any Star Trek fan's collection. The figures feature, movies, shows, music, cartoons, etc. Any dent or imperfection to the box, causes rage. There are not enough Uhura toys, and this is a great addition.

And there are some collectors who LOVE the box, yup the box! They are not Bubbleheads, but the heads do turn around for a desirable pose, of the figure. Nevertheless, I would rather our young people collect things of some value, than disregard all values for the society they are part of, and for life and living. There are those who collect coins, and it makes them happy and there are those that collect cars.

The toy itself is great. Fine if you only want the toy, but loses collector value, and above all, could not gift like this.

I enjoy watching the "Original Star Trek. " So, these figures, which aren't little. Very high quality. The Funko box came visibly damaged, and it was shipped in a larger box with zero padding.
