As you can see ours has a tiny hairline crack in the base where my husband was a bit rough with it (he has trouble gripping sometimes) and the on/off button has started to fade from the many years of use and the 70C button (my tea and coffee favourite temp) has lost some of its silver. The media could not be loaded. Does what it says on the box

But as well as that you can set it to your ideal temperature depending on what you prefer or drinking at the time. You can also just keep the water warm once it's boiled. If you have the scum floating on your tea it time to upgrade as I taste the difference. This was a good decision!
