which bubbles with eerie and atmospheric notes from the rotting home in which the Ushers reside, to the dialect of the characters during the period in which this piece is set, doused with a rise in plot that keeps on rising until it boils over the edge of Kingfisher's metaphorical pot (**insert deep breath**). There are some scenes depicting animal dissection which some people might find upsetting but these are integral to the plot and happen towards the end of the story. This isn’t my usual book choice but the easy writing style and descriptive scenes kept me completely engrossed.
