Top tip for big bits of trunk don’t go for a 1/2 split. What a bit of kit.

Yes it's a little bit slower than an axe and you will always need a axe for the tougher wood but it's so much easier. The media could not be loaded.

No problem with the axe but saw one of these online and thought let’s try it. I have mounted mine on a chopping block with a old 13" tyre around it to stop the logs flying off.

Can end up with neatly split firewood - perfect for this years BBQ's. Good bit of kit within its uses.
However don't expect it to chop knotty wood like pine even if it's dry a hydronic splitter struggles with that! Scavenged logs for many years and always used an axe. Awesome,worked my way through a few tonnes with this, hardly broke a sweat.
