Review: I needed to connect my old 2013 27in iMac, which has 2x Thunderbolt 2 ports, to a 2nd display, a Dell Precision monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution. It wasn't long before I came across this cable from Cable Matters on Amazon. Even though the seller states Target Display Mode won’t work with this cable, it worked between a mid-2010 iMac and a Lenovo T450s. Highly recommended.

Resolution up to 2560x1440 on the iMac. I also checked the everymac website for the full specs of my mac just to be sure it could operate the 2nd monitor at full res, which it could. I'm happy to confirm the cable works perfectly with the HTC Vive Pro and my laptop so it's fair to say it can happily run at 2880x1600 @ 90 Hz.
