So you miss an important chunk of the story. Drawn by a British artist in a Manga style the book tells you an abridged version of some of the main Bible stories. And you never find out why Jacob didn’t want to send Benjamin to Egypt with his brothers. 1) It keeps encouraging it’s readers to read The Bible for further information with appropriate references.
Nor are you told about Jacob having his name changed to Israel. Personally I’m not a fan of the artwork. For example you know Joseph’s brothers dislike him because of his multi coloured coat. What can I say?
However it’s in opening pages it stated it doesn’t cover all the stories and is intended as a first step. But it does have its attractions. 2) It might appeal to people who wouldn’t normally pick up The Bible which would be great. I’m sure this book will appeal to some people and if it draws new readers to The Word of God then that’s a good thing.
It would of course be easy to pull apart a book like this. The shortening of the stories can be frustrating. The Manga Bible.
But that’s personal taste. But you don’t find out about his ability to interpret dreams until he is in prison.
