Thanks for helping us know more about autism Pete Wharmby. Untypical by @petewharmbyI've read many a book on autism, always in search of golden nuggets of information to help better understand what my autistic child is going through and better support her in her moments of anxiety.

), some laughs along the way with his excellent self depreciating humour but more importantly for me it has helped me to understand my autistic child's world in a way I could have only hoped for, and has inspired me even more to make the world a place where she can be her true neurodivergent self. Follow Pete's guidance in these pages and the world will be a better place, not just for autistic and other neurodivergent people, but for everyone. This is not a dry text book looking at autism through a distant medical lens, this is a funny-frustrated-funny-furious-funny rattle through Pete's experiences as a late-diagnosed autistic adult and I urge you to buy a copy, read it, and then buy a copy for your friends. Employers: you need this book so that you can take a long, hard look at the way you attract, recruit and retain autistic employees.

I wish I’d read the reviews lower down! Universal cartridges don’t fit this pen so unless I can find ones that do it’s useless.

I love how simply he explains quite complex things like Executive Dysfunction. Love this book.

Maybe you can even lead the revolution in fixing school environments and systems to they are a bit less cruel and inaccessible to autistic people. I look forward to learning more, and finding out more about intersectionality in particular.

A difficult read at times (some very frightening statistics that everyone needs to be aware of and do something about, now. I liked how Wharmby included practical tips as to how to reduce barriers for the autistic people in your life, especially in different situations (school, work, daily life etc. If you want to read about how life looks from an autistic viewpoint you'll struggle to find a better read than this I want to re-read it as I know I have not taken it all in.

The photo is of this book, and my brother’s elephant. Pete shares his experiences in a witty, funny and informative manner and I would highly recommend it. This book doesn't just tell you why this world can be so difficult to navigate for autistic people, it also tells you what you can do about it. This book has helped me to understand myself better and be able to explain my needs when I’m struggling to put them into words myself.

As Wharmby says in the final chapter, this is a good "starting point". Perfect prose, how you described the experience Pete, is - Chef’s kiss - thank you forever.
