Maureen decided to drive to the garden, so she can put her thoughts about Queenie and her son to rest. Although this is a novella it successfully manages to still be a poignant, moving and totally compelling read about Maureen coming to terms with life’s tribulations and finding peace within herself again. I am glad Rachel Joyce has brought this tale to our attention. Maureen follows in the footsteps of her husband, Harold, to see the legacy Queenie left behind in the form of a garden.

This book is beautifully written and makes you thankful for the family you have around you. However, on reading this, I really want to read the previous two as I enjoyed this one so much. 5 starsI love the way this author draws you into the world of Harold Queenie and Maureen. This is quite a short book, but it is packed with sorrow.

I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Maureen, especially when she found it so hard to interact with people that had previously befriended her husband. this is her side of the story. She is quite a tough character to like, but you begin to easily accept her for her odd ways. Maureen is Harold's wife.
Maureen had been informed that their was a statue dedicated to her son, who we discover killed himself when he was young. If you haven’t read the other two l implore you to do so,how they weave together gives such a sense of fulfilment once completed. Absolutely no spoilers here. I sighed with sadness that this has reached its conclusion.
She intricately captures and creates such solid human characters and then leads you on an emotional journey with each book told from an individual perspective of a central story. When I picked this up to read, I didn’t realise it was the third book in a trilogy, however it gave me enough information that I didn’t feel like I needed to read the other two before. Maureen Fry and the Angel of the North by Rachel Joyce.
. Very much looking forward to the film of Harold's original pilgrimage. This short book had me enthralled and the language is poetic, visual and emotionally charged, in a lilting, gentle way.
A lot happens to Maureen and within her. Harold had previously walked to see Queenie on her deathbed and became quite well known for his journey. I give this book 4. Any reader who knows Rachel Joyce's previous "Harold Fry and Queenie" novels, will, I believe, benefit that little bit more from this novella.
