RAPTGO x HBB Collaboration IEM
Raptgo has partnered with one of the legendary audio reviewers in the audiophile world, “Bad Guy, Good Audio Reviews” (also known as Hawaian Bad Boy), to upgrade the previous success-Hook-X in-ear monitor to achieve next-level ultra-performance. In addition to the planar magnetic driver’s extended treble response, our PZT driver adds an extra dimension of sonic resolution and air that is incomparable with typical balanced armature or even electrostatic drivers. Combined with HBB’s years of experience with thousands of HiFi audio products, the new Hook-X certainly will bring a storm to the hybrid driver world These two driver types are among the most sensational driver technologies in the audio industry, and have never been utilized together in an IEM format. The piezoelectric driver achieves enhanced treble response through vibration of piezo elements within the housing.

Further, QC issues with the cable are evidently not uncommon. While comfortable, secureness of fit is problematic and requires frequent re-adjustment to maintain an optimal seal.

With that said, it is much less severe than on other IEMs with piezoelectric drivers I’ve used in the past. To swap terminations, one simply pulls the lower 2/3rds of the jack away from the upper third. I did not have any issues with the termination coming loose when I did not wish to detach it during my review process. Anyway, back to the Raptgo Hook X HBB's, the puppies are intense but in a good way.

The jack hardware uses a 4-pin connector between the swappable termination and the cable. I've never spent more than $90 on any heaphones/earphones/iem's in my entire life. Overall midrange clarity is middling and there is a sense of graininess where one would expect more midrange detail.
I did not notice hiss with any of my devices. 5mm, 4. 78mm 2-pin cable with swappable terminations.
The packaging is stylish and the unboxing experience is appropriate for a product of this price point. Clean mid bass and mids, not muddy, vocals are really detailed both female and male vocals are good.
SOURCES:I have used the Raptgo Hook-X with the following sources:Qudelix 5KHidizs S9Reiyin DA-PLUSMoondrop DawnPACKAGING AND ACCESSORIES:The Raptgo Hook-X comes in a medium-sized square-ish grey cardboard box with a grey slipcover. As one might expect from a planar-magnetic design, there is no driver flex.
The best way ui can describe these to you in my stupid terms would be they sound extremely clear which makes it pretty difficult to get the monitors to distort. This mid-bass presence rolls off gently into the lower midrange. This cable system is nice to have but not strictly necessary given that the Hook-X is easy enough to drive off of a single-ended connection. The foremost exception is the user’s own voice, for which isolation is noticeably worse than other sounds, even compared to other IEMs.
