Beautifully illustrated by Sydney Smith. This amazing book has it all.

Their story (present and past) is told through two narrators with very different perspectives on events - this is so beautifully done that you are utterly immersed in what is happening. I read it in one day but the voices of Zofia & Tom are so compelling that I will hear them for years to come. This is absolutely breathtaking.
It’s original, moving and Katya Balen’s ability to authentically voice middle-graders is phenomenal.
