The blue calcite was not blue. I would say I was also super impressed with the cute little NatGeo protective baggie it comes with as well as the pieces to make the gems into jewelry. This was for my 6 year old this December and he absolutely loved it.

I read the reviews before I made the purchase. I have to say this one even beats his annual Star Wars Lego calendar as I have found him rushing to it first thing every morning. The rocks/gems are beautiful, high quality, and I absolutely loved that it came with a list so I could practice identifying what I got. I do wish it came with a definitive guide as to what was what, as they are natural stones so not all of them look like the pictures.
