My 6 year old loved the first book Toto and the Great Snake Escape where the characters are introduced and they set off on a mission to capture the terrifying snake called Brian. My son is 10 ,he is about half way through reading this book, he has said that he really likes the story line and has asked me to order the other books in the set, as i received book 5 to review.

There are too many characters, the plot is quite complicated, there are a great many military references, about which he hasn’t a clue, and many unfamiliar idioms, (mostly the sort of things an adult might say. I would recommend this book for young children as the content is suitable and can be read independently. He chose the next one himself (because he is crazy about cats) but we are really struggling with it.

). There was very little vocabulary and few references that needed explaining. I bought the set of five books on the strength of Book 1, but I think that I should keep them for later. The pages are well written and are clearly worded , easy for children to understand.

The book i received is a hardbacked copy, i was unaware that Dermot O’Leary had written a book never mind this series. I often read books with him that a 9 year old would enjoy, but this story does not seem age appropriate. The pictures are black and white which i personally prefer.
