Bought offers are a good investment. The tread on this, like most Salomon, are first class when it's new, but all their new soles tend to wear so fast. these I got as an "everyday" wear – I live in Colorado so I prefer a goretex or waterproof shoe even in summer, as you never know when you'll be going through puddles, rain, etc. Like I said, it's good but not perfect.

Wear wise is where this shoe suffered. Am having a hard time to find a reasonable priced one in my region.

These were super comfortable for sub 7mi hikes without a pack, and daily casual wear, and all the seams and upper area held very well and did well for light water/snow - I really wish these gave me a couple years and I'd buy a second pair in a heartbeat, this color and the olive are a great look, but I've replaced them with X Crest GTX's hoping those soles last longer. Very satisfied. It's very very light, which is very good.
The hiary hiker
I'm using it as a daily shoes and it's not quite comfortable (not Salomon mistake) as it is more on the hard and thin side which is perfect for water use. I've used them thoroughly for long city walks and hiking, and the combination of lightweight, ventilated instep with a thick, hard sole is perfect. 3rd pair Ultra X from Amazon in 7 years.

But it's still a good shoe and I'd recommend. Hope there will be more listed for purchase. The instep is thin and folds to use as a shoe.

I'm happy so long it's Salomon Ultra X. I'd say fit wise, loved them very comfortable and supportive and for a "low" they weren't "too low" like a lot of the newer shoe style hikers. These in a 10 fit right and just a hair tight, so I'd go half size up from what you'd measure at if you'll be hiking in them – 9. The tightener (or whatever you call it) at the side is a bit on the losses side.
