However, as I live alone and have a tiny kitchen, a standard rice cooker seems wasteful, both in the amount of rice I would end up discarding, and the space it takes up.

So I bought this 0. Rice still came out nice and fluffy! My only *tiny* critique - it advises 1/2 cup rice for a single portion (appx 70g dry weight basmati). TL;DR If you eat rice a lot and you only cook for yourself or a partner and you don't have much space, this little cooker is perfect for you.

Mine came with a cracked measuring cup, but after contacting the seller, I am being sent a replacement. On the whole, thrilled with my new gadget and looking forward to seeing how we fare with other varieties, such as jasmine and sushi rice! This, then, seemed like the perfect compromise. It takes 15-20 minutes to make 150g of rice (based on the included measure), makes almost no noise, doesn't leave a mess, and the non-stick inner pot is easy to clean.

8-litre rice cooker, but it really doesn't do smaller portions very well. I found 1 measuring cup of rice (approx 150g) was more than enough for two adult servings.

It's definitly worth the price and despite how cheap it looks it functions very well and does the job I need it to. Used to cook short grain Japanese rice. A glass top would probably still be easier, but only marginally.
