This is the first Ruth Galloway novel, and the beginning of my obsession with Elly Griffiths' work. My only slight criticism is that it's not very long, 295 pages Instead she's an intelligent woman with focus and nuance and a rich interior life.

The mystery aspect is also stellar, with hints of the supernatural in the Cathbad character. Nor is she a 'feisty' single spinster stereotype. I will definitely read another. The archaeology/nordic aspect was something different which I enjoyed.
