I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of the present day situation with the historical letters from wife to husband. 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 in places but how everything 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 in the end is 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩. Keep the lights on whilst you read too because Alice is going to transport you to the most desolate, isolated, wild, creepiest place you could imagine with just a few carefully written chapters and very strong descriptions. The journey is long and tedious but despite the ever worsening weather conditions they eventually arrive at their destination.

THIS BOOK! I've been meaning to read an Alice Feeney novel for the longest time and now I finally have I must read the rest!

Your head will be spinning as everything unravels for Mr and Mrs Wright. 📃Sometimes I take a wee while to get myself 'into' a book but that wasn't the case here, Feeney eases you in, gets a hold of you and doesn't let go until the very last line. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Similarly, none of them were completely likeable, which really helped make it unclear where the reader’s loyalties should lie.

That’s what Amelia said when ‘Call me Pamela’ suggested it. Adam has facial blindness (which I had never heard of before) and he can’t recognise faces, including his wife’s. Well what a twisty turney tale this was! Amelia happened to win a raffle prize at work — a weekend in a cottage in Scotland.

Set in a very creepy old converted chapel in a remote area of the Scottish Highlands, Rock Paper Scissors tells the story of Adam, a screen writer who suffers from prosopagnosia, the inability to recognise faces, and his wife, Amelia who works for an animal charity. So I'd say, yep, it's worth the hype!

'There is a strong sense of gothic-esque foreboding from the start. The letters painted a picture of a fractious marriage that had glimmers of hope and genuine moments of love and tenderness. The character development was also exceptional!

Tea Leaves and Reads

The chapel itself is bone chillingly cold with only a fire for heat. But now we’re here…climbing the chapel steps…and I don’t know if I can go through with it. When I woke up really early one morning and started reading the latter part of the book, in the dark, I genuinely did felt quite spooked! I think that I did but I still read the reveal with an open mouth and an exclamation of, ‘She’s done it again…’ Alice Feeney is the Queen of Domestic Thrillers – she truly is!
