Spoon-Fed explores the scandalous lack of good science behind many diet plans, official recommendations and miracle cures, and encourages us to rethink our whole relationship with food - not just for our health as individuals, but for the future of the planet. In a series of short, myth-busting chapters, Spoon-Fed reveals why almost everything we’ve been told about food is wrong. Do doctors know anything about nutrition? Through his pioneering scientific research, Tim Spector has been shocked to discover how little good evidence there is for many of our most deep-rooted ideas about food. Reviews

Amazing book, I learned so much about food from this book.

Open-minded. Gluten is bad for you - nope, not unless you're in the 1% with an actual allergy or Crohn's disease. Highly recommended. The bacteria in our gut (the microbiome) is as individual to us as the rest of our body, and trying to follow rules designed for the average person doesn't work, because there is no average person.

All of the claims and the advice Tim Spector gives in this book are referenced to the scientific research. Absolutely loved this book. He ends with 12 takeaway messages, which aren't rules, and which I will certainly incorporate into my eating.

His big message is that there is no one size fits all for diet. Spector addresses many 'accepted truths' about diet that are repeated constantly by governments, doctors and self-proclaimed health influencers, and dismantles them with the aid of science. Always have breakfast - only if it works for you, but the 'kick-starts your metabolism' myth doesn't outweigh the weight-loss benefit of just not eating a meal. It's short and pithy, yet gives you huge amounts of interesting information without being overwhelming.

Diet drinks help you lose weight - not according to the science! Interesting and Short nutrition book.

I believe that what I’ve learned from this book is going to help me live healthier and longer.
