It is much quieter ticking and I leave one side open for (wet raw) food when go to bed, and the other side then pings open 5 hours later revealing more food. The timer display is labelled with meals 1 and 2 (see photo), so it's clear to see which time you have set for each of these corresponding meals. I am a cat sitter and have added these to my repertoire as a service for my clients.

@Catmate - you need to make this modification to all your units, it would then be great. We had a previous circular Catmate 4-position electronic feeder but our cat didn't like eating from it. Very easy to use and clean.

Would recommend this to anyone. It's really easy to clean as the feeding compartment can be easily lifted out (see photo).

The wet food slides to the back and corners as he licks it up. Fortunately have found a solution (see photos) which involves purchasing and cutting up two "lickimat"s and inserting as shown. The ice pack is in line with meals 0 and 1.

I have used this item several times now (well, my cat has). It's easy to use and clean. They are also very very easy to use and set. My cat ate from it straight away as it opened.
