While the suggested age range is 8-12 years, my feeling is that people over age 12 (including adults) would find it interesting. To be honest, I thought this was a British English book based on some of the words used, but you can't go wrong with exposure to new words! It would also be good for medical/social service offices that have kids visit (and schools too, of course), as again, it can appeal to so many ages, and it is fun and educational at the same time. She is too young to appreciate the book without my involvement, but with my guidance she is eager to learn and usually surprised by what the word reveals about itself (the illustrations help A LOT to keep her interest).

When it arrived i was so taken by its detail rich pages and unexpected explanations that i decided to make it a weekly task for my 3rd grader. Since we are a homeschooling family, i chose this book as an informational resource for RLA. I feel a family who has an English background might particularly enjoy this book. Tom takes you on the most beautiful tour of the alphabet through poems and stories, with incredible illustrations that bring the book to life.
