a remarkable debut. ** AS READ ON BBC RADIO 4 BOOK OF THE WEEK IN DECEMBER 2022 **'Curious, lively, humble, utterly genuine . Ever since she was a child, Alice Vernon has slept strangely. Ever since she was a child, her nights have been haunted by nightmares of a figure from her adolescence, sinister hallucinations and episodes of sleepwalking. I loved this book, the author takes (what is really a complex subject) and humanises it. In the world of academe this is a rare quality, I hope to see more books from Alice…I know that I’ll be buying them!
