Reviews

Lo

I used to read prolifically but motherhood and stress have meant I rarely sit down with a book and manage to finish it - but I’ve finished this one within a week of getting it for Christmas! Well written, powerful storytelling and characters you care about.

- the son and kitchen scene 😳This is a thought provoking read which would be good for a book club read! Looking forward to more! This was a really gripping read, one which pulled me in right from the start.

Really loved this book! Great for fans of Handmaids Tale, The Power, Vox. We follow the story of Mary, a woman who was there when the infection began, and we are shown flashbacks of the horrific things she endured while trying to find safety, in a new word where no one has the answers. This is a dystopian novel with a premise that is scarily realistic, which makes this read all the more terrifying.

I think this is one of my favourite dystopian reads so far, Even though it hasn’t helped my fear of Moths 😂I was more interested in the flashbacks to how the pandemic started, with the authors writing perfectly showing how scary it was for the women! It is gorey, violent, and harrowing, yet bittersweet. It raises interesting questions when it comes to morals, and really gets you thinking what you'd personally do if you had to make the decisions in a post-pandemic world where men could turn murderous if exposed to the outside world. Clever concept, which feels scarily possible in a mid-Covid world.
