About this deal
As seen on Netflix and BBC around the world. Still, he has matched such men before. The year is 885, and England is at peace, divided between the Danish kingdom to the north and Alfred's kingdom of Wessex in the south. The conflict at the heart of a hero will be played out in the fight for England. As Alfred the Great defends his kingdom from Norse invaders, Uhtred - born a Saxon but raised by Vikings - seeks to claim his ancestral birthright. Loyalties will be divided and men will fall, as every Saxon kingdom is drawn into the bloodiest battle yet with the Danes; a war which will decide the fate of every king, and the entire English nation. Wessex survives but peace cannot hold.

Armchair Viking
Buy yourself a copy you will not be disappointed. This series has it all and is never predictable. If you are looking for historical fiction at its best look no further. I don't want to give away any plot points but the chapters dealing with Alfred's time in the swamp were really interesting and a true underdog story.
it is infinitely far better. As others have already said a lot of new fans (including myself) found the books after watching the Netflix series. All I need now is a good recipe for cooked eels.
The Pale Horseman does not follow the television show exactly and has so many additions to make it a worthwhile read. This is not a bad thing and will not affect your appreciation of the books.
